Do I Want A Sonic Maximizer?

I'm thinking about it. I'm not entirely sure what it does aside from making my guitar sound awesome.

I'm thinking that this is a commonly undefined or understood effect, and I have proof from a review on www.sweetwater.com, from a guy who actually owns the pedal and STILL can't explain what it does:

“This pedal is an instant tone machine. The only way I can explain it is the difference of being punched in the face (using the pedal at the end of your effects chain) or being slapped by a 10-year old girl (not having this pedal).”

Couldn't Resist...

I was searching for recordings of the Hillsong tune "Hosanna" on Rhapsody, and there were many results, mostly from Hillsong or Hillsong United.

However, there was a "Hosanna" that came up from Michael W. Smith, and I thought he may have covered it on one of his worship albums or something.

What I got was very different, and if the album art tells you anything, you might be able to gather what his "Hosanna" sounded like...

Movie Review: Prince Caspian

I saw The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian over the weekend, and must say that it was a great film. I really enjoyed it, and I'm so glad that the franchise has stayed as true to the books as they have.

Ben Barnes did a great job as Prince Caspian the tenth, and Sergio Castellitto was a tremendous as the evil King Miraz. The best supporting role in the movie has to be the part of Trumpkin played by Peter Dinklage; brilliant line delivery every time!

I've read a couple of reviews that even thought that the movie was better than the book!

Favorite line: (taken from the book, but just as powerful in the film)
"Aslan," said Lucy, "you're bigger." "That is because you are older, little one," answered he. "Not because you are?" "I am not. But every year you grow, you will find me bigger."

Lewis was so brilliant with these snippets of spiritual truth! God is unchanging, to be sure, but as we grow and mature, our view of him continues to enlarge, and he becomes that much bigger to us!

Looking forward to the new Indiana Jones film this next weekend; so far a great start to the summer movie season!

Anyone else see Prince Caspian yet? Thoughts?

Resolved Conference 2008

I'm so excited about this conference!

Ryan Folglesong and the Resolved Band graciously asked if I would fill in on the electric guitar for the conference next month, and I eagerly accepted!!

It's June 13-16 out in Palm Springs, and I anticipate a great time. The theme is "Heaven and Hell" and the speakers include John MacArthur, Rick Holland, C.J. Mahaney, John Piper, Steve Lawson, and Randy Alcorn.

Check out the website for more information. I think you can still register if you're interested in going...

New Coldplay Single: Violet Hill

Coldplay released a new single called "Violet Hill" from their upcoming album entitled "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends." Yeah, it's one of those titles with "Or" which makes you wonder, "do I pick which title I prefer? Or is "or" part of one really long title?"

I don't know. Radiohead did it on their album "Hail To The Thief" which was subtitled "The Gloaming." No one refers to that album as "The Gloaming," so I'm sure the new Coldplay will eventually come to be referred to by a) one of the (2) complete titles, or b) the first half of the really long title incorporating the word "or" simply for confusion.

Anyhoo, I like the new single a lot. It was produced by Brian Eno (produced U2's "The Joshua Tree") and anything he touches is usually pretty good. The track has a little bit of a White Stripes feel, but "without the obnoxious" as I like to say.

You can stream the tune for free from Coldplay's website. Enjoy.

***Thanks Kim for catching my typo... the track is called "Violet Hill" not "Velvet Hill"***
